Studiosi Mobilae is the student association for (former) Human Movement Science students in Groningen. Throughout the year we organize many fun and interesting activities, such as drinks and parties, trips to organizations and companies in the Netherlands as well as abroad, a winter sports holiday, a symposium and of course, the introduction for the novices.
The board is at the head of the association, consisting of a chairman, secretary, treasurer, an Internal Affairs board member and an External Affairs board member. The Internal Affairs board member coordinates the committees. The External Affairs board member provides the sponsoring and performs as the contact person for the alumni members.
Being a member of Studiosi Mobilae comes with several advantages. For example, you can order books at a reduced price and buy a laboratory-coat with a discount. Besides that, you will receive the´Bewogen´ the Studiosi Mobilae association-magazine, four times a year and at the beginning of the college year you will receive the almanac, in which all the members and their contact information can be found.
Besides these advantages it’s also very pleasant being a member of Studiosi Mobilae. Throughout the year, the different committees organize several activities. As a member you get a discount in participating in these activities.
In the year 2009-2010, Studiosi Mobilae has 12 committees, a photo team and 4 year representatives. The Activity Committee organizes, among other things, the new-years dive, the fun day and the fun camp. The Almanac Committee is responsible for making the almanac, in which you can easily find the phone numbers of your fellow students. Every year, an excursion abroad takes place. During this trip, a group of student’s visits a town abroad with fun- as well as study related activities. The Foreign Excursion Committee organizes this trip. The Party Committee is responsible for the parties throughout the year; they organize the Dies, the gala and the monthly drinks. The Photo team is responsible for the beautiful pictures that are made during each activity and placing them onto our website. All Human Movement Sciences novices experience their introduction time under the watchful eye of the Introduction Committee. They organize, among other things, the introduction camp. The parentsday will be also organized by them. The website of the association is kept up to date by the Internet Committee. The evaluation of the study is in the hands of, among others, the Year representation. Each year has its own Year representation where you can place your questions or complaints regarding the study program. The editorial staff publishes the association-magazine, ´Bewogen´. 4 times a year for the members who are still studying and twice a year they publish the ´ In BW´ging´ for the graduated members. The Sports Committee is responsible for the sportive part of the activities. They organize the winter sports holiday, the Batavieren-race and different sport tournaments. The Study Committee provides the study-related activities, such as the national excursions and the reanimation course. They also keep you informed about study related activities in the country by means of the science calendar. Also, once a year, a symposium is organized by the Symposium Committee. On this day, the students receive deeper and more practice-aimed information about a human movement science-related subject. This year, there are two temporary committees: The VIB-does-SMday Committee organizes a very variable day, on which the Human Movement Scientists from Amsterdam come to visit Groningen for a day. This activity is organized by Studiosi Mobilae every other year. Besides that, this year, there is another committee, the Lustrum Committee. On December 19th 2010, Studiosi Mobilae will celebrate its 25th anniversary. This will be celebrated largely with all sorts of activities, for which this Committee has been appointed.
For more information about Studiosi Mobilae you can contact the board. Further there is always someone present in the boardroom during the walk-in hours on Tuesday sand Thursdays from 10.00 to 12.00 and on Wednesdays between 12.00 and 14.00. You can find the boardroom in the hall of the student associations in the basement of the medical faculty. (3213-S12).
